Bridges is BVU’s internationally-themed, cross-disciplinary program designed to unite three aspects of the academic curriculum: study travel, Academic and Cultural Events Series (ACES) performances and lectures, and courses from all five BVU schools. Each year, the Bridges program will focus on a particular geographical region. For the 2003-04 academic year, the theme was Latin American Studies. The theme for 2004-2005 will be "European Studies."

Testimonials:
“Traveling during Interim gives our faculty and students the opportunity to taste and savor, touch and feel the culture of Latin America.” — Professor Sally Brecher
“Puerto Rico is a fascinating island that more Americans should get to know, not only because of its Commonwealth status within the United States, but also because of its diverse geology and natural history. During BVU’s 2004 spring break, students taking my General Science course on Puerto Rico will have the option of seeing all of this firsthand on our trip to the island.” — Dr. Steven Tonsfeldt
“Our Interim 2004 course, ‘The Culture and People of Cuba,’ is a unique opportunity for intellectually curious and adventurous students to study and visit one of the few remaining Communist nations on earth. Students will remember this unique educational experience for a lifetime.” — Professor Tim McDaniel
“The Bridges program is an excellent opportunity for faculty to ‘bridge’ their coursework and discussions with the ACES program by inviting and hosting outside speakers and performers on campus. The ability to share these opportunities with not only the BVU community, but the Storm Lake community as well, is a ‘bridge’ that will be exciting to cross.” — ACES Coordinator Carla Offenburger
